"Take care of your office and your office will take care of you," my father said, specifically referring to a fellow professional in his
building who did not keep regular hours. Sure enough, a few years later the fellow went bust. Lesson learned.
I was a boy when my father spoke those words and just about everything in the world is different now, yet his message endures ... and on many
more levels.
Today we've got industrial and inter-office espionage of every shape and shade, sub-contracted cleaning crews, prying eyes, petty and
professional thieves, and all sorts of other negative things Dad never experienced. Today, not only do you have to be good to your office,
you've got to protect and defend it!
It's also nice just to look in when you're elsewhere - for curiosity and peace of mind.
There are many ways to look in ... a few of which are live video whenever you want, snapshots uploaded to a Web site, and motion triggered
video recorded to your hard disk. In my office one of the cleaning crew was caught - live on the Internet! - going through my desk drawers.
Without the time- and date-stamped photographic evidence that was saved to my hard drive it would have been just another unsolved crime.
